As a 7-year old, I began taking violin lessons in our local music school. At the same time, I got interested in the piano books of my older brother. A year later, I had learned several pieces so my parents agreed to let me take piano lessons as well.
At the end of high school, I understood what I wanted to become: a professional pianist. After a year at the Kunsthumaniora in Antwerp, I continued my trajectory with bachelor studies at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Tilburg, The Netherlands, guided on the piano by Nicolas Callot. Currently, I’m in my third year of the bachelor classical piano.
Through the years, I have taken masterclasses with, among others, Levente Kende, Eliane Rodrigues and Piet Kuijken. I have participated in several competitions, like the “Vlamo Provincial Competition for Soloists”, where I won the 2nd price (category C) in 2014, and “Concours Charlier”, where I won the 3rd price (level 1) in 2016. In July 2016, I participated as a pianist in the Nadar Summer Academy, a summer course for young musicians and composers, organised by Nadar ensemble. Inspired by what I heard, saw and played there, I started composing directly afterwards… and never stopped. In the following months, my interest and enthusiasm grew. Since September 2017, I study – besides classical piano – composition at the “Academy of Music and Performance” (AMPA) in Tilburg. Currently, I’m taught by Kees van den Bergh. I have also taken several masterclass with, among others, Wim Henderickx, Brian Ferneyhough and Liza Lim. (For full list, see tab Composer or my CV)
In February 2017, my composition ¿Spiegel? was selected for the composition course The Times They Are A-Changin’, organised and coached by HERMESensemble. My works have been performed at several concert series and festivals such as Transit Festival (Leuven, BE), November Music (Den Bosch, NL) and De Link (Tilburg, NL).
